The greatest work you’ll ever do is on yourself.

One-One Outdoor Therapy

Therapeutic Approach

I model an integrative approach to counselling which means I work in both a person-centred & psycho-dynamic way. I offer a non-judgmental, empathic presence as clients work through their pain. I also look back to the past to find threads of connection to how things may be presenting in the here and now.

Person-centred means sitting with a client as they process their pain.

Pyschodynamic means making use of the past to enable a client to move forward and to create understanding and healing.

I work in a trauma informed way and enjoy exploring attachment.

I help clients to understand why they are the way they are and why they do the things they do.

I believe in non-judgement, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. I love to provide insight which will help clients move through their pain. I look at patterns which are leading to unhealthy lifestyles and encourage clients to become their best selves.
The best part of this job is to see people flourish!

Holistic

I work outdoors with clients because I believe in the power of nature to transform.

Nature does something that we cannot do.

Movement can help us to literally move trauma from our bodies.

Wild Therapy provides the space for clients to take another step towards healing. I enjoy working with the body and using interventions such as walking, wild swimming or breathing exercises.

We cannot approach therapy without consideration of the interconnected nature of our being.

Body, mind & soul.

I also believe in spirituality and faith and I'm open to exploring these things in client work if interested.

Wild Swimming

“We have become alienated from nature, but the cold is capable of bringing us back to what we once had lost.”

Wim Hoff

Wild swimming has certainly grown in popularity over the past few years. You simply need to look at our surrounding beaches on any given morning to find a swarm of people wrapped up in dry robes with brighter than pink skin having immersed themselves in the sea.

Wild swimming and cold water immersion are a practical way to build resilience and to regulate our emotions. To get into the water, it takes us to actively focus on our breath work, taking deep, slow breaths which helps us to regulate. Knowing we can do this in the water at almost freezing temperatures helps us to realise that we can also apply this to other situations where we may find ourselves feeling dis-regulated.

It’s like a reset and it’s part of my own well-being routine.

If you haven’t tried it but would like to do get in touch.

I never regret it!
